Story

Funeral services were conducted today for our Silent Key Steve Selley, CREST unit 36. Steve has been a member of CREST for many years and will be missed. He was a true volunteer participating in Disaster Action Team activities with Orange County Red Cross and also being a Life Member of the ARRL.

CREST was represented by Ed (Unit 25), Tom (Unit 46), Rob (Unit 89) and Lisa (Unit 72). Other REACT members in attendance were Tom and Cari Cole and Don Piechura all of Santiago Communications Team. Of course Mark Sheppard (Unit 60) was there as Steve’s long time best friend.

The services included a viewing and services at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Fullerton followed by a graveside internment services at Loma Vista Cemetery. Several spoke about Steve’s long time volunteerism and spirit of helping others. Steve was an Eagle Scout and very active with Red Cross Disaster Services. He was a CBer many years ago when he built his Heath Kit 4-channel crystal-controlled radio himself. His ham callsign was N6GMT Steve was only 52 years old and we certainly will miss him. A trust funds account has been set up for his son Christopher Selley at the Orange County Teacher’s Federal Credit Union.

Rest in Peace, Steve, N6GMT, …-.-
